Unsure About Christianity? You’re Not Alone—Here’s the Truth

Unsure about Christianity? I know what it’s like to wrestle with faith. You hear about Jesus. You hear about heaven and hell. You hear people say that Christianity is the only way, but something inside you hesitates. Maybe you’ve seen hypocrisy. Maybe you’ve suffered loss and wondered where God was. Maybe you just aren’t sure this whole thing is real.

Unsure about Christianity

The Struggle to Believe

If that’s you, you’re not alone. And you’re not the first person to struggle with these questions. The good news? God isn’t afraid of your doubts. He isn’t sitting in heaven shaking His head at you. He invites you to seek Him.

But here’s the thing—when we ask real questions, we need to be ready for real answers. Not feel-good statements. Not vague ideas about spirituality. Real answers. Because eternity isn’t something you want to guess at.

So, let’s talk about some of the biggest struggles people have with Christianity. Not just to clear up misunderstandings, but to get to the heart of what’s holding you back.

Unsure About Christianity? Is Jesus Really the Only Way to God?

This is one of the hardest things for people to accept. It feels narrow, exclusive, even offensive. After all, billions of people believe in other religions. Are Christians really saying that all those people are wrong?

It’s a fair question. But here’s the truth: Christianity isn’t about who is right. It’s about who can save.

Every religion teaches that you have to do something—be good enough, meditate enough, pray enough—to reach God or enlightenment. But Jesus didn’t say, “Here’s how to get to God.” He said, “I AM the way” (John 14:6). Not a path. Not an option. The way.

Why? Because the problem isn’t just that we need guidance—it’s that we are separated from God by sin. No amount of “good” can fix that. If we could save ourselves, why would Jesus have needed to die? His death on the cross wasn’t a symbol—it was the only solution.

And yes, that means other paths don’t lead to God. Not because Christians are arrogant, but because Jesus did something no one else did—He paid for your sin.

The question isn’t whether Christianity is too exclusive. The question is: Are you willing to accept the only way God has provided?

How Can a Loving God Send People to Hell?

I won’t sugarcoat it—hell is a hard thing to think about. If God is love, why would He let people suffer for eternity?

But here’s the part we miss: Hell isn’t about God rejecting people. It’s about people rejecting God.

God doesn’t force anyone into hell. He offers salvation to everyone. The Bible says that God doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9), but He also won’t force anyone into heaven. If someone spends their whole life rejecting Him, ignoring Him, wanting nothing to do with Him, why would they suddenly want Him after death?

C.S. Lewis put it this way:

“There are only two kinds of people—those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, ‘Thy will be done.'”

Hell isn’t about God’s cruelty. It’s about God honoring human choice. And He’s done everything possible—including dying in your place—to keep you from going there.

Is There Any Proof That Christianity Is True?

Faith isn’t about ignoring evidence. The Bible never says, “Just believe.” It tells us to seek, test, and examine the truth (Acts 17:11).

Proof that the resurrection is true: the empty tomb

And here’s what you’ll find: Christianity is based on real, historical events.

The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christianity. If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, then Christianity is worthless (1 Corinthians 15:17).

But here’s the thing—He did rise.

And we know that because the eyewitnesses staked their lives on it.

Think about this: People will die for a cause they believe in. We see it all the time. But no one—NO ONE—is willing to die for something they know is a lie. The apostles and early disciples weren’t just teaching a philosophy or a moral code. They SAW Jesus die. They SAW Him alive again. And they died because they refused to deny it.

At any moment, they could have recanted. But they didn’t—because they couldn’t. They had seen the risen Christ. They knew the truth.

If the resurrection was a hoax, why would these men—and countless others—die for it? Why would they endure torture when they could have walked away?

This isn’t blind faith. This is compelling, historical proof.

The real question isn’t, “Is there evidence?” The real question is, “Am I willing to believe it?”

Why Does God Allow Suffering?

If God is so good, why does He let bad things happen? Why does He let us go through pain, loss, and heartbreak?

Here’s the hard truth: Suffering exists because sin exists.

God didn’t create the world with disease, pain, and death. That came when mankind chose sin over God. And ever since, we’ve been living with the consequences.

But here’s the difference: God didn’t leave us in our suffering. He entered into it.

Jesus knows what it’s like to be betrayed, beaten, and abandoned. He knows what it’s like to suffer. And He chose it, so that one day, suffering would end forever. Revelation 21:4 promises a day when there will be no more pain, no more tears. That’s what God is working toward.

Suffering doesn’t mean God is absent. It means He’s at work.

What If I’m Not Good Enough?

Some people don’t reject Jesus because they don’t believe in Him. They reject Him because they think they don’t deserve Him.

“I’ve messed up too much.”
“I’ll never be a good enough Christian.”
“I’ll get my life together first, then maybe I’ll think about faith.”

Let me tell you something: If being good enough was the requirement, NONE of us would make it.

Jesus didn’t come for people who had it all together. He came for sinners (Luke 5:32).

Are You Ready to Surrender to Jesus?

If you’re ready to take that step, it’s simple—but it will change everything.

The Bible says:

  • “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
  • “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

You can pray something like this:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust You as my Savior. Save me, change me, and help me follow You. Amen.”
